Explainers
Here are some interactive HTML explainers for scientific papers/concepts that I have been experimenting with using agents. Agentic tools can do a really great job at breaking down the core concepts of a scientific paper and creating interactive tools to understand how different parameters affect its results.
Disclaimer: these explainers have been personally vetted, but I cannot guarantee 100% scientific accuracy.
How GUINEA-PIG slices a collision: n_z vs n_t
A companion explorer to the n_z/n_t slicing explainer. Every formula is read off the source with inline line references, and the toy collision at the bottom re-implements GUINEA...
Which slice meets which -- and what n_t is actually for
GUINEA-PIG chops each bunch into n_z longitudinal slices and each encounter into n_t sub-steps -- these are not two versions of the same knob. Every number below is read directl...
SLD Central Drift Chamber -- ionization, drift & readout
An interactive walkthrough of ionization, drift, and readout in the SLD Central Drift Chamber, built from the chamber geometry in SLAC-Report-273 (1984) Table 5.3 and the cell l...
Reading the Higgs width off a 40 MeV wobble
The Higgs is 4 MeV wide and the detector resolution is 1.6 GeV, so a direct lineshape measurement is hopeless -- except that interference between the resonance and the continuum...
Two thirds of the Higgs, and nobody has seen most of it
An interactive dissection of an FCC-ee note's claimed 0.21% / 1.6% / 0.8% precision on B(H to bbbar), B(H to gg) and B(H to ccbar) -- 69.3% of the Higgs branching ratio combined...
Folding, and the arrow run backwards
One chain of amino acids reliably finds one shape in milliseconds -- predicting that shape is folding. Choosing a shape first and asking which chains would settle into it is inv...
